The Quarry is a horror game with a complex story of harrowing horror and a quick time event, that is, it allows limited control of the character during the game's cinematics, and generally the player must follow on-screen instructions to press buttons or perform other actions. The game is developed by Supermassive Games and published by 2K Games. It was released on June 10, 2022 for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.

The story of The Quarry is set at Hackett Quarry, an isolated summer camp in remote American forests. On the last day of the camp, nine teenagers decide to enjoy the night without adults and without rules after being unable to leave the camp due to car problems. Soon, they begin to be chased by monstrous creatures and violent inhabitants. They must use their skills and resources to survive the night and escape the camp. Your choices determine the fate of the plot, including whether the characters will survive or not.

In the game we have a different gameplay tutorial in a very humorous way, using cartoons in a funny way, but the only problem is when the tutorial happens in the middle of the gameplay and ends the tense atmosphere surrounding the events. The Quarry has an excellent ambiance and good sound effects, especially indoors. Furthermore, we have very cinematic camera angles, placing emphasis on special moments, especially in cutscenes.

The Quarry does not have suspense at all times, the beginning of the story is very relaxed and with a perspective very much like teenage films. The songs and scenarios that are frequently changed at the beginning can leave the player with a fear that the story will not be captivating, the alternation breaks the suspense that hangs in the plot. In the quality of facial capture of the characters, the focus is on the quality of the characters' eyes, which is clear due to its great quality.

The prologue doesn't reveal everything that The Quarry can offer, but it's a captivating start for lovers of suspense games. The first chapters introduce the plot and get to know the characters through their personalities, being very low chapters with little depth. The characters, in addition to being diverse, are complex and with different characteristics and personalities, through my play I was unable to feel any attachment to any character, or rather, The Quarry's script failed to make me have feelings for anyone.

The game's quick decision-making is very simple and with rare difficulty, remembering that I played The Quarry on normal difficulty. The enemies that we are trying to get rid of are always chasing us and increasing the suspense of the game, their terrifying appearance with their giant eyes, arms and legs leave the player apprehensive at all times. Unlike The Dark Pictures Anthology series, also from developer Supermassive Games, in The Quarry we have premonitions that, in my opinion, do not help the player at any time.

The main negative points of the game start with the texture of the water in The Quarry, which is a shame, in some scenes they did not have the desired effect and lacked quality, the dubbing of the characters is of poor quality in PTBR – I recommend playing with In the original version, the characters' reaction to a terrifying situation they are going through appears to be normal due to their posture and dialogue, taking away a lot of the realism. Furthermore, in moments when the player doesn't want to react and intends to surrender, the game ends up not letting him, it seems that even with an in-depth game vision and the player having his theories, in some moments the game forces you to go where you want and The escape scenes are very slow, without any realism.

In short, The Quarry has a complex story, with two story plans, where one leads to consequences for the other and leaves characters in mutual conflict. The game suffers from problems in several areas, both graphical quality, plot and gameplay.
