Heartstopper is originally a comic book series created by author Alice Oseman. The series is known for addressing topics such as friendship, love, sexual identity and acceptance. In the second season of Heartstopper we have the same formula that we had in the previous season, the series follows the same path of telling a happy, fun and respectful story without wanting to focus too much on sad moments. Also, all those butterfly and lightning effects, after the characters touch each other, are still there. Although I find it a bit cheesy, I understand their meaning and it's plausible to have them on the show.
I can't say that there aren't complex moments of relationships that could take a lot of time in the narrative, they are there but the series was not made for these moments and everything often goes unnoticed with the help of the characters. In Heartstopper friendships are very important, anything can be resolved with her and in the second season this is evident.

The complexity of this season is Charlie and Nick's relationship, although some family members and close friends already know this, for Nick this is not enough. He faces all his anguish day after day in search of acceptance and does everything to tell the whole world that he is bisexual and is in a relationship with Charlie, this task is not easy even being portrayed in a series like Heartstopper.
