Wonka is a musical fantasy film directed by Paul King, it is a prequel to the 1971 film Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory from 2005. The film tells the story of the origin of young Willy Wonka and what his life was like before opening his chocolate factory and how he met the Oompa-Loompas.

The film stars Timothée Chalamet as Willy Wonka, alongside Keegan-Michael Key, Sally Hawkins, Rowan Atkinson, Olivia Colman, Jim Carter, Mathew Baynton, Rich Fulcher and Paterson Joseph.

The film's plot shows Wonka in search of his dreams, moving to a city rich in fantasy and a giant glamor of chocolate with a large cartel controlling this market. Willy manages to win over the public with his chocolate, but is prevented from selling it immediately. The search for money is great on Willy's part, as he lives in favor and after not reading the contract for living in a room he ends up creating a huge debt and finds others in the same situation, because of this, the sale of his chocolate is important.

As soon as I found out that the film was a musical, I confess that I was a little scared, there aren't that many musicals I've seen and of the few, they were all terrible. Wonka managed to win me over in this context, the film Wonka is an excellent musical with all the musical scenes being vibrant and full of energy. All the performances in this film are excellent, I would highlight some here but I won't because I can't, I confirm that everyone is excellent in their roles.

For those who spread untruths on the internet when they said that there would be no joke about obesity, you were all wrong. In fact, there is no famous chubby guy from the 2005 film in the film, but the police chief can't resist the chocolate and ends up becoming huge, making the film very funny in several scenes, such as, for example, when he has difficulty getting out of a car. due to its large size. Speaking of funny scenes, the film manages to take the plot into three pillars: Adventure, Comedy and Drama.

The conquest of space in the market and the fight against the cartel is the main message of the film, from there we have the entire adventure that the film will navigate, but Wonka also has funny scenes and having that traditional comedy duo and a story as a plan in the background of both Willy Wonka and the character Noodle, this one having a twist and having an eye-watering outcome, as I saw in some eyes next to me in the cinema.

Wonka - An excellent musical Review

Wonka is an excellent musical film with dazzling performances that manages to cheer and move everyone who has ever dreamed of being in a fantasy world, but it manages to make mistakes in some points. In some moments of musical scenes I noticed a desynchronization of the music with the actor's mouth and some flaws in the animation, I believe that if they had used a dwarf actor to play Oompa-Loompa it would have been a better choice.
