In the world of video games, few series have left a mark as present as Resident Evil. Since its emergence in the 90s, the franchise has been a pioneer in the survival horror genre, captivating players with its immersive narratives, tense atmosphere and relentless challenges. In 2020, fans were treated to a remake of one of the series' most beloved titles: Resident Evil 3.

The history of Resident Evil 3 Remake takes place during events that occur simultaneously Resident Evil 2, where an epidemic of a deadly virus turns the population into bloodthirsty creatures. At the center of the plot is Jill Valentine, one of the most iconic characters in the series, who faces the horrors of the city while trying to escape with her life. This character is who players take control of, as she is a former member of the elite STARS team. Jill finds herself trapped in the chaos of Raccoon City. She is pursued by a monstrous creature known as Nemesis, a ruthless biological weapon designed by the sinister Umbrella corporation.

The narrative unfolds as Jill struggles to survive, uncovering dark secrets about the origin of the virus and Umbrella's illegal experiments. Along the way, she meets unlikely allies, like Carlos Oliveira, a mercenary sent to rescue survivors.

The ambience and sound effects of Resident Evil 3 Remake are breathtaking, immersing players in a world dominated by chaos and fear. Every shadowy corner and every subtle noise contributes to the game's tense atmosphere. In addition to great graphic quality that makes the game stunning, the new cutscenes and moments added provide an enriched experience, even for fans of the original game. The visual details and lighting effects further enhance the realism of the environment.

The soundtrack of Resident Evil 3 Remake, with its chilling notes, intensifies the player's immersion, keeping him constantly alert and tense. The highlight of the game is also its story, which is told dynamically, keeping players engaged from start to finish. The diverse environments offer a variety of challenges and scenarios, ensuring that gameplay is always interesting and surprising.

The characters are complex and well-developed, each with their own unique personality and compelling story arcs. The ability to play as a second character adds an extra layer of depth to the narrative, allowing players to explore different perspectives and environments. The game's guidance to advise which path the player should follow is done naturally, without breaking immersion, ensuring that players can progress through the story in a fluid and intuitive way.

The only negative points of Resident Evil 3 Remake that I can name are about the main antagonist, Nemesis, presenting extremely challenging moves, which can frustrate players and discourage direct confrontations. This can lead to the feeling that the only option is to run away rather than confront him. Furthermore, I believe it is the conclusion of the game, despite the initial adrenaline rush, the end of the game can leave players wanting more. There was a lack of a surprising element or an impactful twist to end the experience on a high note. The ending is dry and not very challenging.

Resident Evil 3 Remake offers an exciting journey full of scares, with a combination of classic elements and new features that will certainly please both old fans and new players.

I decided at that moment: the ashes of Raccoon City would also be the ashes of Umbrella. I would put an end to them once and for all. –Jill Valentine
