The Last of Us: Episode 2 – Ellie is exposed to the real world | Review

After the announcement of the series of The Last of Us Many fans wondered if it would really be a good idea, the question was whether HBO would make a faithful adaptation of the game or would it be just another work done anyway. The second episode of The Last of Us arrived on HBO streaming on January 22, 2023 and continues to calm the spirits of fanatics of the game franchise.

The second episode has a prologue of about ten minutes that tells an excerpt from the beginning of the virus in Indonesia, the event is mentioned at breakfast between Joel and Sarah in the first episode, this excerpt is very quiet but very tense.

The performance of the actress who plays the character who has her meal interrupted in an establishment by soldiers and is sent to analyze the body of a recently infected woman is magnificent. We can feel the sense of dread in this introduction, especially after his speech saying that the solution to everything that is happening will be a bomb.

After the prologue, the second episode of The Last of Us is narrated for about 30 minutes of a sequence present in the game where Ellie, Tess and Joel try to get to the place where they would meet the fireflies to deliver Ellie, but, as we already know, everything goes wrong and everyone is dead.

The museum scene is also present in this episode, they knew how to create the air of suspense present in the game in a fantastic way, making the viewer's heart in their mouth with Joel having to deal abruptly with the Clickers.

The end of the second episode of The Last of Us ends with Ellie's reaction, scared to see that the world she lives in is not as wonderful as in the books and the way the chapter ends is different from what is seen in the game, but the essential is also found, in fact, the public Those who are watching the series are not only fans of the game, but also people who have never played the game with good reviews, this shows that the series is going in the right direction.

My analysis of the series, so far, is that some people need to understand that it is an adaptation and that means that it will not be identical to what is found in the game, but similar. For now, HBO is on the right track.
