After the announcement of the series of The Last of Us many fans wondered if it was really a good idea, the doubt was whether HBO would make a faithful adaptation of the game or it would be another work done anyway. The first episode of The Last of Us arrived on HBO streaming on January 15, 2023 and calmed fans of one of the most well-known game franchises.

The first episode shows us the beginning of the first game, it reveals events that are not shown in the game and there are also moments of adaptations, it is possible to see that there were exchanges in specific moments in which the series producers believed that the version could be the more adapted for a series. Rest assured, the changes are few and nothing out of this world, you will only notice those who are fans of The Last of Us, that is, who played the first game.

In addition, I found some changes in the script that, for example, make the viewer want to complete a character's speech but are disappointed when they notice that there has been an alteration or the lack of some word that you could find in the first game of The Last of Us. There are actors who are not identical to the game but it is clear that HBO tried to be as faithful as possible and has a great performance by Bella Ramsey, Ellie, and also by Pedro Pascal, Joel.
And speaking of Joel, I watched the series in English but I played the game in Portuguese and the main characters of the series have the Brazilian voice actors of the game, after watching a short excerpt of Joel's dubbing in the series it was possible to notice that the voice did not adapted very well to Pedro Pascal's appearance, something very different from what we can feel when listening to Joel in the game.

The setting is sensational and very reliable, making you feel like you're in The Last of Us and with moments identical to what you find in the game, from camera movement to scenarios.
