The Emperor's Beards: D Pedro II, The Story of a Monarch in Comics is an adaptation of Lilia Schwarcz's book called The Emperor's Beards. The comic version was launched on January 27, 2014 with the return of Lilia and with the help of the illustrator Spacca, now, Spacca takes the reader on a true tour of the themes of the book, transposing the language of the essay and biography to the universe of the comics in a vibrant and enlightening way.

The HQ is clearly smaller than Lilia's “original” book, that is, everything is spoken more quickly and without much ado, you get to know what happened in the second reign of Brazil Empire in a very enlightening way. Honestly, I really liked the idea of publishing the book in a HQ version and of being a quicker story in this version, as I believe this can encourage children to study more about the history of their own country.
