Hogwarts Legacy – An infectious wizarding world | Review

Hogwarts Legacy is a game with pleasant graphic quality and an absurd story that takes players to a splendid magical world, but there are some moments in the story where it becomes overwhelming and can irritate players who are not big fans of RPGs.

Hogwarts Legacy is a 2023 role-playing game for PS4, PS5, PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch developed by Avalanche Software and published by Warner Bros. under the Portkey Games label. It is set at the end of the 19th century in the Harry Potter universe, a century before the events narrated in JK Rowling's books, that is, the plot takes place before the Harry Potter films.

In Hogwarts Legacy we are in control of a student enrolled at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry who learns to control various magical abilities and objects. This is only possible with the help of classmates and teachers, the protagonist embarks on a journey to unearth an ancient secret that is hidden in the magical world. As it is an RPG, the game's story is gigantic and with many details that would take a long time to mention in this article. What I can summarize about the story of Hogwarts Legacy is that, just like in other games of the same genre, you will progress through plot if you manage to reach the necessary levels, this could end up leading the player to carry out secondary missions or conquer new levels when exploring its open world.

Exactly, in Hogwarts Legacy you are in an open world full of nature, mysteries, enemies and dialogue, lots of dialogue. Among the main characters who will be by his side is Professor Fig, he was designated as the protagonist's mentor. Fig accompanies our character from London to Hogwarts in a flying carriage. From then on, what we have is a long story full of magic.

In the game you learn skills from teachers or colleagues to be able to face enemies, of which there are few. It may be an open world with a long story, but the enemies are mostly spiders, goblins, skeletons and ogres. Furthermore, we must collect objects throughout the map to complete objectives and level up. The game has a skill improvement mechanic that makes it easier to fight enemies and tame and care for animals. We can also customize the environment, such as the Room of Requirement. Creating your character gives you the freedom to create what you want with countless options. The difficulty of the game is very low, the grand finale may be a bit difficult for the player looking for it.

Some bugs are frequent in the game, but nothing that hinders the immersion. In Hogwarts Legacy you will have complete freedom to make your dialogue choices and be able to keep objects that don't belong to you. The game's graphical quality is very good, but it needed a little more optimization for the PC version. The soundtrack is reminiscent at times of the soundtrack we can hear in the Harry Potter films, as you are playing the game's soundtrack adapts to the region where the character is located.

The game is as faithful as possible to the Harry Potter universe and this is evident throughout the entire game, the game's production team didn't make a game anyway just to make money, it's incredible the respect they had for such a great work and the courage to carry out game development.
