If you're looking for a game that combines first-person shooter elements with city-building mechanics, developer Radiation Blue demonstrates that these very different game features can coexist in Genesis Alpha One, as long as they are implemented well. Genesis Alpha One was released on January 29, 2019 and is available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
The game does not have stunning graphics. Right from the start, it is clear that the planets visited have vibrant colors, but the scenes themselves lack substantial details. The environments inside the spacecraft manage to convey the feeling of being on board an orbiting space platform and, in some ways, are reminiscent of science fiction films from the 80s.
Another important note is that the game is only available in English, and does not offer subtitles or dubbing in other languages. Therefore, if you have no knowledge of English, you will probably face difficulties while playing the game.
As for the gameplay, it is remarkably complex, as you constantly deal with elements from different types of games that do not integrate perfectly in Genesis Alpha One. The first-person shooter (FPS) mode allows you to face enemies on the habitable planets and combat invaders into the base, while also exploring the inside of the base.

In essence, hitting the aliens is a precise experience, with commands that respond appropriately, however, the same cannot be said about the character's agility.
In the game, you act as the commander of the orbiting station, and as such, you need to manage it effectively to achieve your objectives. However, this task is not simple, as you must build a variety of laboratories for weapon manufacturing, station improvements, among other things.
In Genesis Alpha One, the process is quite simple and quick, but this ends up hampering the fluidity of the game. It would be more captivating if the space exploration time was extended and if there were improvements in gameplay and graphics. The game has an interesting premise, but fails to execute properly. Simplistic graphics, an unengaging narrative and weak gameplay contribute to making the game monotonous. Even exploration, which should be one of the strong points, fails to maintain the player's interest and motivation. Genesis Alpha One is not the ideal choice to start your gaming exploration journey in 2019.
