Far Cry Primal - A brilliant game that lacks dynamism | Review

Far Cry Primal is an action-adventure game developed by Ubisoft Montreal and released in 2016. Set in the Stone Age, this title offers a unique and immersive experience by transporting players to the year 10,000 BC, where survival is the main concern.

The player, in the role of Takkar, a skilled hunter from the Wenja tribe, must navigate a vast and wild world filled with natural dangers and hostile tribes. The fight for survival in an environment where humanity is still beginning to organize itself is one of the game's focuses, in addition to the player being able to develop their first tools and weapons.

In Far Cry Primal we can use spears, bows, and other rudimentary weapons, in addition to taming wild animals that can be used in combat and as mounts. The game's narrative is interesting but not at all plausible, exploring themes of survival, leadership, and the fight for territorial dominance. The open world of Oros, where the game takes place, is beautifully rendered, with varied landscapes that include dense forests, frozen valleys, and mysterious caves.

The game features a significant graphical improvement over its predecessor. The game's setting is impeccable, transporting players to a richly detailed prehistoric world. The sound effects perfectly complement the game's atmosphere. From the sound of wild animals in the distance to the clang of rudimentary weapons being used in combat, every sonic detail helps immerse the player in the Stone Age environment.

The combat of Far Cry Primal It's excellent and, at times, quite complex due to the difficulty of the enemies. A valuable recommendation for all players is to grab all the resources available in the world as you explore the map. At some point, these resources will be essential for improving equipment or your Village, thus unlocking new missions and skills. This gathering and crafting aspect is a fundamental part of the game's survival mechanics.

Although the soundtrack is adequate, it doesn't shine as much as the sound effects and visual ambience. It could have been more memorable and impactful to complement the rich atmosphere of the game. A point of frustration is the obligation to chase resources at the beginning and throughout the game to gain access to missions. This can decrease the dynamism of the game and story, forcing players to interrupt the narrative to engage in collecting materials, which can be seen as a way to artificially lengthen the game's length.

The enemies' artificial intelligence could be better. In some situations, enemies do not present a significant challenge due to predictable patterns and repetitive behaviors.

Far Cry Primal is a very different and interesting addition to the franchise, despite some negative points, its qualities make this game an engaging and recommended adventure for fans of the series and survival games.
